Comments: The Episcopal Women's Council had a very good meeting on Saturday, April 28 in Oacoma at Al's Oasis with the twelve women from across the diocese in attendance. Good discussions were held and recommendations on a number of items were made for decisions at the annual meeting, October 5, 2007, at Cedar Shores Resort, Chamberlain.. The Council is requesting nominations for the HONORED WOMAN from South Dakota for the 2009 Triennial Meeting in Anaheim, CA. Selection needs to be made by April 19, 2008. Qualifications include active in Women's Ministries in her own church, the diocese and nationally; community involvement in outreach; good Christian character and a role model for others. SEND YOUR NOMINATIONS TO BARBARA OATES, Facilitator of the Council, 115 Lizzies Lane, Chamberlain, SD 57325, or(oatesteach@midstatesd.net). The ECW Quilt, under the care of Beverly Trull, Emmanuel Rapid City; has been displayed in most of the West River Churches over the past three years and now goes to Sturgis, to be kept through the Motorcycle Rally, and to be displayed there at the church dinners, along with copies of PATCHES, the women's History book , which will be for sale. Churches who wish to display it should contact Beverly Trull, as she is hopeful East River churches will now want it. Brookings has already requested it--so get on the list if you do.. It will soon be placed at the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre, as voted on at last year's annual meeting.
Women's (ECW's, Guilds, etc.) groups in churches are requested to support the budget of the Council, basing their contributions on $3.00 per woman member. Send these donations to Karen Eagle, Box 1193, Mission, SD 57555-1193 .
A REMINDER: The Woman's Retreat will be the second weekend in July, at TEC--with Deacon Marty Garwood and The Reverend Mercy Hobbs providing the leadership. Registration forms are available here on the web site; from Holly Huisken, Camp Director and printed in the Church News. Hope to see lots of women there. The fee is $75.00.

Comments: You are invited to participate in a discussion of youth ministry on May 8, 2007, from 7:30-9 pm Central Time or 6:30-8 pm Mountain Time. Please RSVP by noon Thursday if you are interested, so that I have time to set up the call and send you the information you will need to call in. So far I know of these sites: Brookings - Tom and Wendy Henley Cheyenne River Episcopal Mission - Marion Rectenwald Pierre - Trinity Church Rapid City - Emmanuel - St. Andrew's Sioux Falls - Calvary Cathedral You are welcome to call from home, I just need to know how many incoming calls to expect. There is no cost to you. Everyone is welcome. Please pass the word about this opportunity. The format is an open discussion of youth ministry: what is working, what is desired, what is possible, and what will we do. I ask that you try to have youth involved in the conversation wherever you are. We currently do not have a youth coordinator in our diocese. I am the moderator of this discussion simply because I know how to set up the conference call. (-: I hope to hear from you by Thursday. Holly Huisken Calvary Cathedral Youth Director
