Please pray for the people involved in the fire near Hot Springs. I ask your prayers especially for Billy and Marilyn Beeman whose son David was the person who died in the fire and for David's wife and family. Several other St. Luke's families live in the area and have had to be evacuated.  Pray also for all those involved in the efforts to contain the fire and for those who are giving assistance to the people who have had to leave their homes.

Deacon Caitlin Collier, Vermillion, has informed the Diocesan Office that

"On Friday, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  It was caught early and the prognosis is excellent, however, I am facing surgery and weeks of radiation."

Please keep Caitlin and her family in your prayers as they face and attend to this health challenge.

TEC is in need of two four-slice toasters (good ones, that will last), says Holly Huisken, Camp Director.

Greetings from camp!

We continue to be blessed with all sorts of help and gifts.  A generous donation from a Summer Seminary attendee helped us purchase shelving for the kitchen, putting the dishes closer to the table setting area.  Our bus drivers (background checked to meet school standards - so we know they're good!) are here with us this week and have made several small repairs, trimmed weeds in the labyrinth, and participated in Ultimate Frisbee.  Today a load of sand arrived to help fill in the volleyball court and protect our fire circle.  With a campfire planned for tomorrow, the sand and the impending rain are very welcome.

The camp theme, "Go Higher Up!  Go Deeper In!" is lived out each day through spiritual disciplines.  So far we have explored discerning, listening, and respecting.  Trusting, resting, and encouraging (as specific emphases) are still to come, though we've seen a lot of that already.  A group from Connecticut joined us for the first few days, leaving this morning for points east.  They entered into the fun and worship of camp in ways that enriched our time together.

The remaining high school campers are a great group.  Some of the discussions, and even seemingly casual conversations, have already gone deep.  The fellowship that has occurred between campers and staff has been nothing less than amazing.  We are halfway through the week and we are looking forward to all that the rest of camp holds:  swimming, talent show, games, spiritual study, dance off, firing our pottery, writing our stories, singing by the campfire, hiking, and more.

Be sure to sign up the 5th - 8th graders in your church or family for one of the most diverse and artisitic camps yet, or come to Family Camp next week.  The Women's Retreat is filling up quickly and it's not too early to sign up for the Men's Retreat, led by Fr. John Tarrant.  Come share life with us in God's beautiful Black Hills.

God bless you as we are blessed by your prayers!
