Comments: Aberdeen asks to send a prayer request for healing out to the diocese. Bev Ackerman's husband, Richard is in ICU and while in the hospital Sunday, she fell and fractured her hip. She had surgery this afternoon (Monday). She is in room 410 at St. Luke's here in Aberdeen.

Comments: Dear Friends and colleagues, Thank you for your prayers and concern and cards. The surgery was successful in removing all of the cancer, and I will be starting radiation therapy in mid-August. I thank God for the early detection of the cancer, and add my voice to the reminder that all women over 40 should have yearly mammograms! I am renewed in my spirit. With my surgeon's okay, I have returned to distance bicycling and plan to ride the MS 150 August 4th and 5th. I would be overjoyed to receive any donations towards this worthy cause. At St. Paul's, I know of two of our members who have MS and suspect that many other churches have been touched by this disease. Again, thank you so very much for your prayers. I am lifted up by your love.

Please include Deacon Marty Garwood mother, Eileen Garwood, in your prayers. "She is scheduled for surgery on Wed. 7/18. She has been experiencing a build-up of fluid in her chest cavity between the chest wall and the outside surface of the lung. The surgeon will go in with a scope and remove all the fluid so that it can be biopsied and hopefully see what is causing it. The fact that she has been on blood thinners for about 10 years complicates things. Mom will be in the hospital 3 - 5 days.
On a positive note, she was having a lot of pain in her hip and has now graduated to a four wheeled walker. The docs thought she possibly had a new compression fracture in the spine and probably a fractured pelvis due to the osteoarthritis. But yesterday's MRI showed NO fractures. That is good news.
Thanks for your prayers. Marty "

Vern Cloud (Niobrara Council Itancan and member of Diocesan Council) has had further tests which found at least 2 tumors. Surgery is still pending, but may be as soon as the end of this week. Vern is in a great deal of pain, and also has a hard time talking as one tumor is pressing on his larynx. He has felt the prayers and support of the people in the diocese, and asks for continued prayers, notes (13696 - 448th Ave, Waubay 57273), and emails (vrn_cloud@yahoo.com).
