Hello to All...

This (another) really cold day in Yankton (all of South Dakota, I believe) thought I would share a few things that Christ Church is doing to build community and enjoy one another.  A couple weeks ago about 19 people gathered to enjoy visiting and a cold drink at Ben's Brewing, a smokeless bar.  Much discussion and fun!
Last Sunday we had a sledding party at Father Jim's, and another different 20 people came--I did not sled, but I sure enjoyed the scrabble game with Jean and Gloria and sitting by the fireside and drinking hot cocoa;

 Next Thursday we are having a "Movie" party--going to see The Bucket List, with Jack Nicholson at the local cinema and then to the Frying Pan for conversation and refreshments.   I can only assume this will again be a different group.  I won't be among them, with my hearing, I do not enjoy movies anymore.   But I may join them for the refreshments.

Mary Pat Bierle is going to have a special teaching session during Lent for those young people 4th through 8th on Sunday mornings, learning the Prayer book.

Then, next Sunday Bishop Creighton joins us for confirmations and baptisms, with a goodly number of people participating in this, followed by a reception.

Lent begins, and after our Pancake Supper, on Shrove Tuesday, served by the Youth and the Brotherhood of St. Andrews guys,we begin our Lenten soup Suppers every Wednesday evening, followed by a special program/worship.

NO TIME TO BE COLD--      Inez L. Harris

To Dee:  I would suggest that you attend a conference called "Path's Crossing" which meets every year at a different location. This year's event will be at the Church of the Holy Apostles in Oneida, Wisconsin, near Green Bay on March 27-30, 2008. This is a place where people come to learn about how to organize these mission trips and to form partnerships. If you will send me more contact information, I will send you more details. My e-mail address is revpcallen@yahoo.com.

Hi,

I'm a member of the vestry of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Waynesboro GA. We would really love to undertake a mission trip in the west, and I've volunteered to see what options we might have. Can anyone tell me who to contact? We are a small parish (about 75 folks), but we are hard workers and very dedicated. I've never done this before, so I have no idea where to begin. ANY help is greatly appreciated!

Dee

I am happy to report that the anti-racism workshop scheduled for Feb 15-16, 2008 is filled and no more reservations will be taken at this time.  We will, however start a waiting list in case someone has to cancel. Please keep the participants and the leaders in your prayers.  More training events will be offered in the future.
