Comments: Come join us in paradise! We had what we decided is the perfect day yesterday at camp. All of them have been very good, but wow! We're in the middle of high school camp, with 14 great participants, our great staff, and Fr. Wayne ("the Wayne") McIntosh as our spiritual director.
The day started with polar bearing at Roughlock Falls at 6:30 am, then back for warm showers and a good breakfast at 8 am. Personal care and chores preceded chapel, which was an outdoor Stations of the Cross. The chapel group drew the stations and posted them on trees and bushes. They took turns carrying the cross to lead us to each station for a meditation (we have had a wonderful variety of worship experiences all session!). Trying to build a wall of the outdoor altar broke down due to uncooperative weather and materials, so a thoughtful discussion led into finishing our personal shields.
The meditation time after lunch produced conversations and journal entries. A rousing afternoon of TEC Olympics, featuring such fine events as the stork stand, wheelbarrow race, and balloon toss, had everyone laughing and working out. The evening activity of campfire and singing and s'mores culminated in compline under an incredible sky full of stars.
The sense of community, fun, worship, and fellowship throughout the day filled us all with thankfulness. It was a most incredible day.

Comments: We had a great week with the 5th and 6th grade campers! We greeted them in snow and sent them home after a thunderstorm at the end of the session. The activities were very well received; discussions on wisdom, bravery, fortitude, and generosity bore fruit throughout our time together (and were even remembered on the evaluation forms), and camp traditions continued. The weather cooperated for a campfire, Eucharist on the "Cliff", and some hikes. We even fit in a water fun time (spontaneous activity).
Now send us those high school campers - registrations first please. We look forward to welcoming them on Tuesday, after our time at Convocation.
