I would like to ask your prayers for Bishop Mark MacDonald who will have surgery on Friday afternoon to remove the infection in his leg. MRI tests show that the infection is isolated in one place and can be removed by surgery. Antibiotics have not been able to heal the infection. Thank you.

Did you know:
  • The State of South Dakota recently wrote to all residents encouraging us to make long term health care plans?
  • That medicare benefits for long term care do not begin until all of your other assets are used up?
  • Long term care costs currently average $4,500 per person per month?
  • The lifetime cost per individual for long term care averages $200,000?
  • Costs are expected to double every 15 years?
Good Shepherd, Sioux Falls, invites all to attend an information seminar on Saturday, April 28 at 3 p.m.  Mark Barker, a Vestry member and Regional Vice President with Primerica Financial Services, will give important information on Long Term Care realities.

All are welcome to attend.  Refreshments will be served.  Good Shepherd has added an elevator and accessible restroom to make our facility more available to all people.

For more information, contact the church office at 332-1474.

Thanks Tom for sharing the Garrison Keillor piece.  I hadn't seen it before and it was just what I needed this morning.

Here at St. Andrew's in Rapid City we are quite fortunate to have a retired baker as part of our parish family.  Every so often Ray will bring his donut frying apparatus and make donuts at church.  It becomes an activity that the whole parish participates in.  People buy for their own use as well as getting orders from friends, family or co-workers.  Some folks get up early to come help cook, frost, and package.  Others deliver.  And some of us just eat them.

Rowan Williams responds

Lambeth Palace has released this quote from the Archbishop of Canterbury:

"This initial response of the House of Bishops is discouraging and indicates the need for further discussion and clarification. Some important questions have still to be addressed and no one is underestimating the challenges ahead."
