I have just received word from Father Paul Sneve, that Father James D. Marrs, Sr., passed away at the Rapid City Regional Hospital today at 12:30 PM, Central Standard Time.

Fr. Paul tells me that services for Jim will likely be held following the Convention.  Announcements will be made at the Convention.

My his soul and the souls of all the departed rest in peace.  Amen.

Greetings:

I received a telephone call this morning (Monday) that Mr. Roger  Campbell from Waubay, SD, was admitted to the Sanford Health Hospital this past weekend.  I was told that he may have suffered a stroke and is in  the intensive care unit on the 2nd  floor of the hospital.  Many may remember Roger as a former Itancan of the Niobrara Deanery, a Lay Reader in the Church, and a member of St. James' Episcopal Church, Waubay, SD.   He is also the brother of the Reverend Ron Campbell (deceased) and the Reverend Les Campbell.

I will be visiting Roger today at the hospital and when I gain additional information will post it on this site.   In the meantime, please pray for Roger and for his family.

Peace,

Greetings in the Name of the Lord:

I have returned from the House of Bishops meeting in New Orleans., and am getting ready for the Diocesan Convention in Chamberlain.

No doubt some of you have read the HOB Report of the Bishops issued soon after the end of the meeting in New Orleans.  I have read it as well, and, like many of my collegues, agree with most of it and disagree with a portion of the report.

I will send out a Pastoral Letter (one that can be shared and perhaps not read in the congregations) as soon after the Convention as possible.  In the meantime, please feel free to have conversation on the Report either on this forum, or the Diocesan e-mail service.  If you have not received a copy of the Report, one can be downloaded from the Episcopallife online site, or call Mary if you must.

I am looking forward to seeing you at the Convention, drive safely . . .

Peace,

Curtis Price

Youth wanted at Convention!

Please encourage your youth (kids, grandkids, nieces, and [of course] "cousins")  to consider coming along to Convention Oct 5-7 in Chamberlain.

We would love to have them there to spend some quality time together as the young Body of Christ in the Diocese.  The youth will help out some with the proceedings as pages but will also have some fun times together as well, notably during Saturday workshop time.
(note from editor: remember that the Convention Coordinator needs to lock in meal numbers on Oct 1, so contact her ASAP about extra meals needed and costs)
Any questions, contact me or Dave Van Vliet from St Andrews (d2nomad@yahoo.com).
