Christ Church, Yankton, has another very interesting weekend coming up--following right on the heels of our most successful celebration of our 125th year on Sunday, November 4.. On that Sunday we shared a commemorative Eucharist in the morning and also dedicated our newly refurbished stained glass windows--a project that has taken two years to complete. In the afternoon we had a 2:30 "Story Hour and Hymn Sing", followed by an English Tea--and closed with Evensong at 5:00. We are grateful for the many friends who came from afar as well as locally. It was truly a great day all around for everyone.
And now--on November 16-18 we will be have a FAITH STORIES WEEKEND, with Tom Riley and Fred Siegfriedt (a former Parishioner) from FAITH ALIVE with us as leaders. We begin on Friday Night with a pot luck--stories--and to set the pace for the retreat on Saturday and Sunday. An exciting time is ahead for our church!

Comments: I'm saddened to have learned of the death of James Chasing Hawk. James was of a breed of Lay Ministers whose devotion to Jesus Christ and His Church could never be disputed. James worked hard for his church and his people, treating all he met as though they were family. Even though James was a good Lakota and a good Churchman, he was always humble, kind and generous. He never sought to bring glory to himself, but instead encouraged all to answer God's call to good works. He always had a strong handshand and good words for me. I will miss him and will seek to honor him and those like him in my service to God. I would encourage all who read this to follow his example and work to ensure that the Church in Indian Country grows and thrives. Hecetuyelo. Fr. Paul Sneve

I just wanted to extend a thank you to the congregation of Christ Church in Yankton, SD and particularly to Father Jim Pearson in welcoming by wife, Rebecca, and son Conner, as well as Rebecca’s family visiting from Brookings, SD during Conner’s Baptism. And I would also like to congratulate the congregation on their 125th anniversary. Thanks again. Hans Aanning Eagan, MN

Comments: I want to take this time to express my heartfelt thanks to the Diocese of South Dakota for providing the opportunity to take part in Dakota Experience this past weekend. To me, this experience represents ALL that is good with the Episcopal Church and I feel blessed to have been a part of it. Thanks so much to Rev. Martin Brokenleg for his willingness to share his vast knowledge and experiences. Thanks also, as always, to Mary Armin for her work and dedication the people of this diocese. As a relatively new member of this diocese I found this weekend to be tremendously valuable. I thank God that I am a member of a Diocese brave enough and willing enough to unflinchingly confront the past with an eye toward making the future one in which all of God's creation is celebrated and appreciated for the unique gifts therein offered. May God love, bless and embrace you always, Liam+
