Kristinn, thank you for your accounting of your time at Frank's retirement party.  I had so wanted to be there, but could not work out the logistics for the time I could be away.   I had a great E-mail from Frank sharing with me who was to be there and that they would miss me.  Bill and I enjoyed our time in Pierre with Father Clark as priest at Trinity, Pierre.   Visited them several times after they moved on to the Cathedral in Fargo--and even spent a week with them in Peoria, where we connected with The late Bishop Walter Jones and Marilyn.  We have so many good memories of the Clark's!!!  Their son, Andy, lived with us his last six months at the University of SD. Frank and Carol came for his graduation and were our house guests.  So it was good to hear that a few South Dakotans made it to his retirement party.  I had lost track of Jan and Art Wilner (old Pierrites, also, as well as cursillistas) so was glad to know they are hale and hearty...Inez L. Greetings to all from Phoenix, Arizona!  I've just had a lovely day reconnecting with my history in South Dakota.  I had lunch with Art and Jan Wilner and some mutual friends (the world is quite small) who live in Scottsdale where Jan is a deacon serving Westminster Retirement Village (although listening to her schedule, she doesn't sound very "retired").  We trekked together to the Northwest Valley to celebrate Fr. Frank Clark's retirement party.  His children and their families were also in attendance and there was much laughter, joy, and palpable affection and gratitude for his and Carol's years of service at All Saints. The world is really such a small place these days and it was amazing to see the number of threads/relationships that have come and gone and come back into the fabric of our lives.  As for me, my time at ASU will finish in May and I am planning to hike the Camino Frances from the Pyrennes on the French side to Santiago Campostela in Spain, continuing to the Atlantic Ocean at Finisterre.  It will be a 550 mile pilgrimage in the path of the way of St. James--a physical and spiritual challenge.  All my best and much affection to my friends in South Dakota.  Kristinn Heinrichs (Watertown/Vermillion)

I am responding from the Men's group of St Stephen's Episcopal Church in Oak Ridge TN. We are sister parishes and include the Diocese of South Dakota and in particular St John's, Deadwood, in our prayers.
We have had someone from our Diocese who has been to visit your Diocese explain your efforts and life there.

I was asked to make contact with St John's, to say hello and bring back any information I could to bring back to our group.

In God's Peace,
Roger Johnson St Stephen's Episcopal Church, Oak Ridge TN  865-576-3059 day

Fr. Paul Sneve will be teaching a class on the History of the Diocese of South Dakota, at the Cathedral in Sioux Falls on Saturday, April 26th from 9:00am to around 2:00pm (lunch provided.)  You may find it useful to read “That They May Have Life” by Virginia Driving Hawk Sneve, but don’t worry if you can’t find a copy, since it is out of print.  If your congregation has its own history, please feel free to bring it, as it will contribute to the class.  Fr. Paul taught this class in Rapid City and used a time line as a teaching tool and then had participants add historical points from their own congregations/communities to it.  Every time this class will be taught, more information will be added to the time line, until it becomes an accurate (if not busy) depiction of the history of all if not most of our Diocese.

We have planned these classes so that those traveling within a two hour radius of each class will be able to participate.  If you are traveling from outside the area, we can not provide lodging.  We are not charging any tuition for this event, but will ask for a free will offering to help defray our costs.  If you plan to attend this class, please drop a line to Fr. Paul at stmatts@rushmore.com .  If you live outside the 2 hour radius, but would like to have these or any other course taught within your area, please contact, Fr. Paul Sneve or else Mo. Mercy Hussey Hobbs.
