Registrations for the Men's Retreat were mailed to churches or are available online or by contacting thunderhead@dakotablue.net

The Rev. George Smith, of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Glen Ellyn, IL, will be leading a study of the Lord's Prayer.  Dave Rogers, formerly of the Cathedral, has already signed up and looks forward to seeing many of his friends from Sioux Falls and elsewhere.  Please sign up today so that we may prepare a place for you!

The Retreat is August 15-17 and only costs $75.00 for a weekend of beautiful and peaceful surroundings, comfortable lodging, delicious food, great company, and an excellent program.

Scholarships available.

We sent the girls home on the bus this morning.  Girls' Camp is a great way to end the summer - they were enthusiastic, respectful, considerate, generous, and fun.  The worship experiences were varied and stimulating.  The singing of the "Gloria" at the final Eucharist sounded like angels and the joy on the girls' faces blessed us all.  Thank you to Kathryn Costas, our Spiritual Director, and Rita Powell, our new Youth Director, for their leadership, as well as our terrific volunteer and returning counselor, Cary Thrall.

The core staff - Kristin Sanford, Cathy Zortman, Josh Dunlap, and I - are heading into Sturgis Bike Week with a long list of maintenance items as we finish out the summer.  Volunteers welcome!  Just call and we'll open up a cabin for you.  Our lodge is full of paying guests for the week.

Serving Christ with you,
Holly Huisken
Camp Director

When I returned home from the retreat and rested a bit, I wanted to check the EYE Blog--I did and what a joy it was to read Jane's daily postings of the youth and their activities while being a part of the GREATER CHURCH--THE BIANNUAL YOUTH GATHERING.  Such a great experience for our youth and I join others in thanking Jane and the other chaperones for their efforts in making this happen for our South Dakota Youth.   Even the trip into MN to catch the bus sounded exciting.   Thanks to those at the Cathedral who made their overnight stay there pleasant and comfortable.   I hope people will take the time to view this blog.

And, in another vein, following  Bishop James Jelinek's (Minnesota)daily postings while he is attending the Lambeth Conference is a joy.  It is so very informative and keeping us up to date what is happening during this gathering of Bishops.   Check it out.   It will be worth the time you take to do it.

Thanks to Evelyn Weaver and Sandy Williams for providing the leadership for another successful and fulfilling Women's Retreat.
There were 20 of us who learned about relationships, as they developed with the seasons.   The fellowship, worship,  good food. (prepared by Kathy Just Zortman, Holly Huisken and Josh Dunlap) added to the mix and those of us who attend these retreats are grateful for the opportunity.  Thank you one and all!!
